Battlefield 2142 Titan Mode
'Appropriating the PAC’s innovative technology, the EU created an analogous MK-1 Titan airship, complete with defensive armaments, protective casing and equipment expulsion procedure. The MK-1 incorporates a handful of western developments, including electric reactive armor base-plating for additional protection against ground-based assaults and combustion-assisted impulse cannons.' — Prima Official Game GuideThe MK-1 Militarized Titan is a large airborne fortress used by the in and is the largest vehicle in the entire Battlefield series (along with its counterpart, the ).
It serves as a transport, warship, and mobile operations base. Contents DefensesTitan Airships feature a heavily reinforced hull and energy shielding. The shields allow passage of friendly troops and vehicles, while vaporizing all hostile targets that come in contact with it. Both the shielding and the hull are impenetrable except by specialized MK-3 Anti-Titan Missiles, launched from silos scattered around the map in the. Control of these silos is the primary objective in Titan.

However, once the shields are down, troops can board the enemy Titan and destroy it from the inside.WeaponryMounted on the bottom of the Titan are four cannons which fire a barrage of low-explosive shells effective against infantry and light vehicles. A short reload delay occurs after each burst, but ammo is infinite. On top of the Titan are two rapid firing anti-aircraft guns. These AA guns also have unlimited ammo. Further, they never overheat, nor need to be reloaded. Each turret's field of view overlaps that of other turrets, but not by much. There are blind spots that no turrets can see. These are: directly underneath the Titan and directly beside the titan (Below the top guns and above the bottom guns).

All Titan weaponry is controlled from the hangar bay and can be destroyed by enemy fire. Repairs are done from inside the hangar, at the appropriate control console.ConstructionFour blue hover-pads are mounted below the hull and keep the Titan airborne. These cannot be destroyed. The hangar is the largest room on the Titan and houses Aircraft, Pod-Launchers, and Anti-Air Weapons Controls. It also provides additional access to the reactor core's consoles.
It is protected by an impenetrable shield that lies under the primary shield and covers the open parts of the hangar. Like the primary shielding, this shield allows free movement of friendly troops but cannot be destroyed, making the hangar inaccessible to enemy troops at all times.
Hardwood floors throughout the main floor, stone tile in the basements, and upgraded carpet in the bedrooms. All together, the lot is worth 106,184 Simoleons. On the 3rd floor, there are the master bedrooms and bathrooms, and the additional guest suites (varies per unit). In each of the units, the finishes are very high-end.
Vehicles returning to the hangar will receive ammo and repairs. A total of six Assault Pod Launchers are found in this bay, three per side.At the rear of the Titan is a lower cargo loading deck and an upper landing platform. Entry into the cargo bay is possible through doors on each side of the cargo bay, or through ventilation shafts on the landing platform. The cargo bay contains various crates and containers, and access to the Reactor Consoles. The Titan is powered by a volatile core that is carefully maintained and monitored from these control Consoles. Should all four reactor consoles fail, the sealed blast doors of the reactor room will blow open, giving the crew the opportunity to fix the issue with the core manually. In actual gameplay, there is no crew available to fix the core.
If the enemy destroys all four of the control consoles, they now have access to the reactor, leaving it open to be destroyed if the Titan's team doesn't set up defenses. A damaged reactor cannot be repaired. The Titan has a deck below the hangar that is presumably the bridge, however this is not accessible in-game.Role in WarfareTitans had been around a few years before the outbreak of, being used solely as a method of shifting large quantities of supplies around EU territory.
The lack of resources in many areas of EU lands meant that supplies needed to reach the desperate areas quickly and en masse. The MK-1 solved this problem. While not being particularly fast, it could deliver huge amounts of supplies to an otherwise isolated area. The MK-1 had been recognized as a possible powerful asset in warfare and began to be accordingly fitted with powerful air-to-ground and anti-air weaponry. The hangar areas of the MK-1 were also expanded to allow even more aircraft to launch and be stored. When the Cold War began, at the Battle of Minsk, the EU found themselves outnumbered by PAC divisions and the MK-1 was finally utilized in battle. PAC also began use of their Type-2 Titan in the assault on Minsk. MK-1s assisted EU units in holding their positions, however, eventually the PAC defeated and drove back the EU defenders.
Several MK-1s were downed in the battle. Over the next five years, the MK-1 would be used in almost every conflict in the war. By 2145, the fleet was becoming severely depleted (although not as depleted as the PAC fleet) and the use of MK-1s in battle was regulated. However, in many conflicts such as the and, the use of Titans was severely needed and regulations were broken.
