Fall Of The Republic Mod
A few dozen hours into Fallout 4, things start to get deep. It’s the way of these games: you’ve made your way through the main quest, or at least most of it. You’ve populated your map with innumerable little landmarks representing dozens of small moments of discovery. You’ve got some gear, you’ve made some friends, you’ve started to feel at home. That’s when things start to shine.
These games are all about the thing you overlooked — a little hole in the wall, a small moment of poignancy in the post apocalyptic nightmare. It can be a bit odd thinking about secrets, because nearly everything is a secret: a little black box somewhere out in the wasteland full of some strange thing you never thought you’d find. Even so, there are a few moments of strangeness in the wasteland that no player should miss, all for their own little reasons. There are so many more out there, probably even more that I’ve never heard of, but here are 5 of the best secrets we’ve found in Fallout 4 so far:SPOILERS BELOW THE VAULTCheers: We were waiting for this one ever since we heard that the game would be set in Boston. Sure enough, Bethesda gave us a bittersweet look at one of history’s most iconic sitcoms by way of its own particular brand of nihilistic wackiness.
Just west of Boston Common a small set of stairs leads you to the Prost Bar, an obvious recreation of the 80′s sitcom set. There’s the main bar, a pool table in the back and Sam’s office complete with baseball memorabilia. The most poignant moment in Prost, however, are the two skeletons seated just at the end of the bar: one in a mailman outfit, meant to be Cliff, the other one assumed to be Norm. Because where else would Norm and Cliff want to be, even in the midst of a nuclear war?The X-01 Power Armor: It’s easy to miss this one, because it doesn’t even come with a landmark on the map. But rest assured: if you’re making your way into Fallout 4′s endgame, you’ll want this one. The X-01 power armor offers the best stats of any armor set in the game, even moreso if you’ve got the perks necessary to mod it to its maximum potential.
You’ll find the X-01 power armor east of Goodneighbor. Just start from the custom house tower and go southwest until you find a building labelled “35 Court.” You’ll need to be level 26 to make it work, and the building will put up a fight. Make your way to the top and face off two high-level robot opponents, each of which comes out of a little hole in the wall with a button it it. Push both buttons to reveal the X-01, and feel free to jump right off the roof with it.The Alien Blaster: An old favorite makes a return in Fallout 4 in all its extraterrestrial glory. To find it, you’ll need to go to a location just south of the Beantown Brewery, on the south bank near the bend in the Charles river. It’s just east of Oberland Station. Look around until you find the smoldering wreckage of an alien spacecraft.
Follow a trail of green blood to a nearby cave to find a wounded alien who you’ll need to finish off. Loot his body for the Alien Blaster.Jaws: Cheers isn’t the only classic piece of pop culture to make its way into Fallout 4. Northwest of Diamond City you find a boat that seems to call up Steven Spielberg’s Jaws: we’ve got a skeleton decked out in blue with a bandanna and a machete, next to a nasty example of an apocalyptic fish that seems like it could stand in for a shark with little trouble. Jaws was set in a fictional New England town, so it stands to reason Bethesda would put it in here. The Maze House: Fallout 4 has some excellent side quests, but few really qualify as secrets.about playing the game without fast travel, and it goes to show just what a deep, terrifying world Bethesda has created, even in these tiny little moments that flare up without warning or notification. The Maze house is one such moment, stuck into the world without a landmark or a quest, open to be explored but certainly not demanding to be.
It’s a little ways to the east of Milton General Hospital, with a couple of white painted arrows beckoning you inside a bizarre labrythinh of traps and death. At the end, you find a “Saw” like moment with two jail cells, each of them rigged up with cables and full of goodies.
