How To Start Thieves Guild Oblivion
Hi everyone, this is my first post on UESP so if I say anything idiotic please forgive me. I am posting because I am trying to finish the Thieves Guild quest line on XBOX 360 but I cannot get the last quest 'The Ultimate Heist' to start. I have just completed 'The Boots of Springheel Jak', (the right way, I waited until he attacked me in the crypt after reading the diary to kill him), and after giving the boots to the gray fox it will not update to say I have fenced 1000 gold (when I have fenced about 3500). I have read a few other posts and I realize I should not have fenced that much this early but is there any way around that? I have gone and tracked down Amusei myself but there is no conversation topic to start the ultimate heist. I have tried getting arrested, tried getting kicked out of the thieves guild and rejoining.

I have tried waiting for 3 days in game both in the imperial city and in Anvil hoping it would reset the npcs behaviour but nothing seems to work. The only things I can think of that I did wrong was get caught by the watch breaking into Jak's house during the boots quest and I got the key from him while he was outside of his house on his nightly stroll. Would either of these things have caused the glitch?

I have a save file about halfway through the arrow of extraction quest I could reload but will I still be able to get the last achievement or do I have to make a completely new character and do the fencing in the right order? I have read that you can gain the thieves guild ranks in the wrong order which causes this glitch also but up until this very last quest everything was working fine for me and I ranked up in the correct order. Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated please and thank you. There will even be a 48 hour xbox live card in it for you if we can actually solve this glitch. I didn't have a blood price and for some reason I don't get the option to talk about the diary or the Imbel family geneology before or after I've given the gray fox the boots. Another weird thing that happened is I never got markers placed where the beggars were I had to just go find one. After I give the gray fox the boots the quest completes and leaves my journal though so does that mean it is independent thievery that is bugging out on me for some reason and if so is there any way to fix that?
I had the same sort of problem on my PS3. For most of the quests the markers did not show up for the beggars for me either. Also i racked up about 10k in stolen goods before I started any of the quest line so it sometimes took awhile for the update that I had fenced enough items.
I was playing with my goty edition on my PS3 and I had a lot of problems with different glitches and things. I finally put in my original copy of the game (a non goty edition with knights of the nine) and I havent had as many problems. Are you using the goty edition for the XBOX 360? Maybe the 360 version is like the PS3 version.
